Demurrage vs detention

Demurrage is what the marine terminal charges when a container stays in the yard after free time. Detention is what the carrier charges when the container (and often the chassis) stays out on the street after free time. They are different clocks, different invoices, and they stack. Neither is calculated on this site — they are tariff times, not cube.

Free time is in the tariff and the contract, not in a CBM number. Last-free-day math belongs on the arrival notice.
