Accessorial charges

Accessorials are fees for services beyond dock-to-dock linehaul. The common ones: liftgate service when there's no dock, residential delivery, limited-access locations (schools, bases, storage units), inside delivery, appointment scheduling, detention when drivers wait, redelivery after a failed attempt, and reweigh/reclass corrections.

Two habits prevent most accessorial pain. First, declare honestly at quote time — a 'commercial' address that turns out residential costs more after the fact than it would have upfront. Second, verify the details that trigger fees: is there a dock? A forklift? Does the receiver take appointments? An accurate quote with three accessorials beats a clean quote plus an invoice surprise.
